GSD EP 42! *Spoiler Alert*

Shinn vs Cagalli was too short, but it was pretty good.  Miss Cags gave a pretty good fight, and I even think she could have taken him on a little longer if Freedom hadn't stepped in.
Freedom and Justice coming down to Earth holding hands was something sweet and cheesy at the same time.  Kiracus is so loved by Destiny.
Meyrin holding onto Athrun was ok.  It looks like something else when you're just looking at the screenshots, but when it's animated you can see that she's only helping him walk.  But I still wish it were Cagalli doing that :)
Doms had a spectacular entrance! 
I'm kind of wondering what was Murrue thinking letting La Fllaga out in that Skygrasper?  Those are the shitiest and so unsafe.  Although it's pretty nostalgic to see La Fllaga show out of nowhere and protect AA in it.
The absolute highlight of the episode was Yuna getting punched.  Way to turn that abusive relationship around Cagalli!  ^_^ 
Looking at the preview though I'm kind of disappointed that Lacus didn't get a chance to dress up Cagalli for her speech :/
And I'm totally looking forward to Freedom and Justice fighting together again.  Go Kira and Athrun ^_^

Yeah I love that episode! Athrun really cares for Cagalli! and Kira and Lacus were so sweet.. and Yuna got punched!!! haha! and Mwu said "making the impossible possible" thing.. so it was cool!! The couples are finally back!! AC,KL,MM!!!!

Personally, I wanna see interacton from now until the end. Beautiful stuff, Asucaga making up properly etc. Make us proud Fukuda. And if they're going to have another useless 5 min OVA, might as well make it a Wedding OVA.

Bah, once again DESTINY masturbates to the old SEED cast and blows the cream all over everyone else.

The DOMs were hardly spectacular. The least they could've done was come up with a different name for the Jetstream Attack. Those Black Tri-star ripoffs better get the same inglorious end as the originals.

I wouldn't mind all this jacking off to the old cast if they were bothering to do any character development. But they're not, so I'll just have to add this to the Reasons to Arrange for Fukuda to Meet with a Tragic Accident.

Are we talking about the Old Cast of the New Cast - since the New Cast hasn't been developed very well, and they had plenty of time to do it. And the Old Cast - well there's been some development at least.

The old cast—since they're obviously not concerned about developing the new cast. I wouldn't mind them focusing so much on the old cast if there was any character development going on, but there's not, it's just Kira And Lacus And Cagalli Being Perfect And Flawless And Noble Exactly Like The Shrieking Fancreatures Want Them To Be. And Athrun's "character development" doesn't count, because he went through this exact same shit in SEED, and they just turned back all his previous development so they could do it all over again.

They tried to develop the New Cast - think of the 2nd and 3rd quarters. But it's no one's fault if they didn't do a good job of developing them.

What are you talking about? The new cast has been taking a back seat to the old since episode 14. Nobody has gotten any character development—if DESTINY wasn't wrapped up in bashing America, it was either spraying cut-and-pasted battle scenes all over the place or showing us a billion shots of Shinn crushing soda cans and Athrun sulking in his room. That is not character development. And so when plot points like Stellar getting killed came along, it didn't really have any impact because there hadn't been any development behind it. They wasted all the opportunities to develop the Minerva crew, for example, while Stellar was captive. Because they had to put us through Cagalli crying with her Orb soldiers instead.

And yes, it is someone's fault that this show is so piss-poor. Fukuda and Morosawa are the ones to blame—they're writing this damn story, after all. That "you shouldn't blame them because without them we wouldn't have DESTINY" talk is bullshit. It wouldn't be a big loss anyways.

For your information, it was 7 through 14 that none of the new cast got any development. That's through the time that everyone talks about Lunamaria accosting Athrun to the time of the wedding. After that point there is what Fukuda passes off as character development. Unfortunately that only encompasses Shinn, meeting Stellar and returning her and so on. Even as piss poor as it was, it was character development.

No, because nobody changed. Character development isn't "showing X set of characters more than Y set of characters," it's changing characters as the story continues and having them grow up or go insane or whatever. Fukuda dumped a whole lot of plot points on us, but the characters never changed. They've been static the whole way through. Athrun's still an indeceisive twit, Shinn's still angry and angsty, Lunamaria's still lacking much of a personality...you know, like they were back in the beginning of the series.

That's why it's called inefficient character development - it simply didn't get the job done but Fukuda "tried" all the same.

If Fukuda had "tried" to develop any characters there would've still been some kind of change. It would've been poorly displayed and explained—Shinn might have randomly grown up without any warning or anything, for example. But the characters are all the same now as they were in the beginning of the series, so Fukuda isn't even bothering to try.

Isn't that a change? Going from being Athrun's fangurl who believed she had a greater claim on him than his fiancee, to Shinn's whore after he killed her sister and her the guy she crushed on. I'd say her sister's death changed for to a worse person, and a better pilot, if you buy into the theory she was pissed off into doing better, rather inheriting Impulses footage.

Her personality was the same as it always was, essentially nonexistant. She went from Athrun's whore to Shinn's whore. The only change there is who happens to be doing the banging.
