Anime North Gundam Seed Cosplay Includes Cagalli v Athrun's fangirls + a very special Pink Zaku

I took these pictures last weekend at Anime North in Toronto. Going in, I didn't really know what to expect cuz I'm not really following a specific anime. Secret dream of mine for the last couple of years is to see an Asucaga cosplay. Sure you see your share of Athruns and maybe a Cagalli or two (usually never wearing anything pretty:/) but never an Asucaga. After going to the con 2X before and never seeing an actual Asucaga, I'd given up hope. I just kinda bumped into these two from behind from the hotel. I rmr realizing that the boy was an Athrun, and wondering to myself if the girl was an actual Cagalli. I found out the truth when I saw these two taking part in a huge Seed cosplay. Thought I'd upload my Seed piccies for you guys to enjoy as well as a little something else. I know I had an amazing time seeing then and taking piccies. Job Search Is Over^^

I'm very, very happy to say that I've got myself a job XDDDD. I've been in summerschool for a long time, so I didn't really have a huge lot of time to do a lot of looking around for it. Luckily for me, I got into Work Study^^ So that basically means that I won't be home for the summer, but I'll be working enough to cover the rent and make some extra money and get a really great experience. Apparently Work Study is really good. I definately don't know what kind of job I'll be getting, but I'm definately guaranteed one, which is totally something. And I"ll get to spend more time with my friends here^^

Highly Belated Anime North Post With Pictures!

I only had the camera for a short will, so these pictures were taken over a few hours. I went nuts photographing cosplays after I went boke. I forgot to take piccies of the merchandize that I bought. Expect those as well eventually. Believe me there was so much more to see^^ I had the time of my life. It was my first CON, so I guess anything would have been special. But I think I got so much more than I expected. Its amazing what you'll do when you're on an adrenaline high. AND I got to meet somebody online in the real world. I should have known twinbells was coming. I'm surprized it took me so long to figure out it was her!

Definately the CON was amazing but I have to admit that I was disappointed in two respects. Firstly, twinbells was right to say that it was just like Yaoi-con. Sad to see that all of the speakers in Fanfiction panels turned out to be from the Yaoi community. And I expected to see a lot more Seed! The merchandizing wasn't too bad, but I was sad to see so few costumes. Maybe Seed just doesn't cosplay as well as Bleach.

We had a nice little run in with the Cagalli sans Lacus. We asked her if the guy she was with was cosplaying Kira or Athrun. And she went all emo and was like "Kira! Athrun has longer hair!" And then we were all like wtf. Why would you come as Kira and Cagalli. Ok I'll admitt it, it broke my heart not to see any Athrun and Cagalli's together. Believe me had I seen one, I would have found a way to take a picture. Even without a camera. And there were Kiracuses :/

No clue who they were, but easily the hottest costumes ever.

Back to university from Slack Week :/ What can I say, one week is too short to do anything properly. Bad timing, I think I'm coming down with stomach flu. Nothing's come up yet, but I feel sick, my head hurts, and the light makes it hurt more too. And my stomach doesn't feel well. Not to mention that I visited a friend who came down hard today. So I guess I'll just have to wait.

Other than the Trivia Club wants me to on their Exec^^ It's really great of them to make that offer especially when I thought, that they were lukewarm about me joining them.

I don't even know if I should post this, but here goes, it's from a friend from an MB:

These are actually the anti-couple votes. The top disliking pair is AthrunxMeyrin, very possibly caused by anti-Asumey group. However, KiraxLacus is the third, voted by anti-KiraLacus group. Besides Shin's fans, I think some kids don't like the naked Lacus and Kira in the new OP cutscene and that caused this negative voting. It's all Fukuda's fault. AthrunxCagalli is in top 10, possibly voted by anti-Asucaga. FukudaxMorowsa is in top 11.

Feeling really bad about abandonning my LJ for the last few months. The first year of university is always tough, and it's taken up a lot of my time adjusting to it. But yeah the first round of midterms are over - thankfully, and hopefully I'll have more time to post on a regular basis. Other than that, does anyone know if that Fukuda is or isn't releasing a GSD OVA this February? I know it's kind of down the road, but it's definately something to look forward to.

Pimping Seed_bdays!

First of all I wanted to talk about a wonderful new LJ group that I'm lucky enough to be a mod of. It's called seed_bdays. Like you might have guessed it's dedicated to celebrating the Birth Days of Seed/Destiny characters. So this is how it works: about a month before a character's b-day we come up with a list of themes related to that character's personality and people write fanfiction about it and then we compile it.

The first character whose B-day is coming up is Shinn, the supposed protagonist of Destiny, who has a b-day on September 1st. All submissions will be accepted just as long as they're relevant ot the theme. So join. We'll be having great mods and the people who've joined so far are great, so we're going to have lots of fun ^_^ Hope to see u there : )

And onto things that I love!

YTV is a cable station in Canada that's been airing anime for over a decade. Unlike Cartoon Network it's American contemporary, it treats it's tv shows really well. Case in point is Gundam Seed that's currently being aired 5 times a week and is rapidly rising up the YTV Rankings ^_^ YTV always has a nice way of airing cute episodes on certain days. The first time episode 24 was aired it fell on the week of Valentines day. Today they're going to be airing the sweetest Seed episode ever : Episode 24! The island episode where Asucaga meet : ) And tomorrow is Episode 48. That's when Asucaga kiss and Kiracus have a ring scene ^^.

Thoughts on 42 Spoilers

What have they done to Rey @_@ A couple of episodes ago I could see them setting him up to the Nichol of Minerva. Him being a quiet, supporting character who played the piano. Now where have they gone? He's become Shinn's Fllay. It's strange, you think it would be Lunamaria-the-Fllay-lookalike, who only eyed an ace when she found out his rank would become that character. No, Rey just tells her off as well. I thought Faith members could only be ordered by the Chairman. No, Rey just commands Faith Shinn back onto the ship. Sure it's for his own good, but could you see anyone else doing it? His power of Shinn and Minerva mirrors the kind of power Fllay held over Kira and the Arcangel. And like Fllay, I believe that the only way that Rey's influence over Shinn will be broken is if he's separated from Shinn, or dies.
And onto Meyrin Hawke. Contrary to certain people's beliefs, I still love her, even if her love for Athrun is "threatening" to break my OTP. Out of all the people who are in love with Athrun, herself and her love of Athrun is the least offensive. She isn't deluded enough to think that she should sneak into his hotel room and pretend that she's slept because him because she's impersonating his fiancee, and she doesn't think so highly of herself that she thinks her claim over him is stronger than his fiancee's. She a simple girl, who stepped out of her sister's shadow to become a heroine in her own right. And I love her for it ^_^. I don't blame her for falling in love with him. At least she didn't fall in love with him because she found out that he was a super ace, as a certain sister did, but because he saved her, and has taken care of her. And falling in love with Athrun isn't going to change that as long as the she has the decency to back off when she finds out that he's involved.

Noooooooo T______T Why..why where there's 5 episodes left, do they do this!? It's just rumors, so I try not to take it too seriously. I would prefer if they did it like..in...episode 35 >.>

In Episode 45, Cagalli returns the ring to Athrun. Meyrin and Cagalli will have a talk. It seems that Athrun and Cagalli become independent and go their seperate ways to solve their own problems. Episode 45 and 46 will have some Athrun and Meer.

I'm guessing Athrun goes to save Meer? And I'm also guessing that Cagalli returns the ring to him as she needs to take care of ORB first. Or maybe she gives it back to him and says, "You come back alive and give this to me again."

My thoughts:

@_@ Fukuda how can you do this us? In the last five episodes no less! There's no more time to fix them! I swear the man is trying to use the stress of this all to kill the Asucaga fans :/

But at the same time, I'm kind of dazzled by the daring and ambitious potential this has (if only Shikami could write it). If this is done right, I have a feeling that this could restore the lustre asucaga had in Seed. And I have a feeling that NT is hinting that it will *cheers* and will hopefully lead Asucaga to more mature love. Episode 45 has the aura of Episode 8: thrilling, scary, surprizing and delighting at the same time and hopefully it'll give us all the answers Episode 8 never gave. *Finger are crossed* that they can pull this thing off ^_^

And *what* of Cagalli's conversation with Meyrin. What's that all about? Is the littlest Hawke sister going to be convince Cagalli that she and Athrun need to get married to be a symbol of unity between Coordinators and Naturals? Nah, I'd rather Cagalli figure that out on her own. Or is Cagalli going to turn Athrun down without an excuse, and is Meyrin going to get the explanation? Or is Meyrin going to do something with Athrun that convinces Cagalli to break up with him?
The suspense is killing me, and all I can say is, I hope this is the end. As someone said on animesuki, hopefully, after the Harem-bowl is over, they'll replace the group shot of the Harem with a proper shot of Asucaga.

GSD EP 42! Spoiler Alert

Shinn vs Cagalli was too short, but it was pretty good. Miss Cags gave a pretty good fight, and I even think she could have taken him on a little longer if Freedom hadn't stepped in.
Freedom and Justice coming down to Earth holding hands was something sweet and cheesy at the same time. Kiracus is so loved by Destiny.
Meyrin holding onto Athrun was ok. It looks like something else when you're just looking at the screenshots, but when it's animated you can see that she's only helping him walk. But I still wish it were Cagalli doing that :)
Doms had a spectacular entrance!
I'm kind of wondering what was Murrue thinking letting La Fllaga out in that Skygrasper? Those are the shitiest and so unsafe. Although it's pretty nostalgic to see La Fllaga show out of nowhere and protect AA in it.
The absolute highlight of the episode was Yuna getting punched. Way to turn that abusive relationship around Cagalli! ^_^
Looking at the preview though I'm kind of disappointed that Lacus didn't get a chance to dress up Cagalli for her speech :/
And I'm totally looking forward to Freedom and Justice fighting together again. Go Kira and Athrun ^_^

Thoughts on ep 25

I guess I would write down my thoughts about the episode here:

There's a guy on GSN who will remain nameless, he's a bitter Fllay fan, and was jealously thinking that Athrun and Cagalli instead of Kira and Fllay would have a political marriage that would be used as a symbol of healing the rift between naturals and coordinators. And in response to the idea that Cagalli would die, he told us that he's sorry for us. But regardless from his own experiences, no matter how upset we'll get about Cagalli's death, we won't kill Fukuda. First thought that crossed my mind: how big could the Fllay fanbase have been? Second: how organized?

Immature, no?

This whole experience has taught me that I tend to side with Cagalli over Athrun. I've seen the progression. The poor girl has gotten the stick, the whole way along, and we've seen how upset she is and is disturbed. But when you think about Athrun's side, his stance is understandable. I'm pretty sure his personality is rather split. Once his mother died, he had to adjust quite quickly to his father's ways. And from what we've seen of his father, he was quite a military person, always making sure that Athrun had the right posture and didn't the boy have to address his father by his rank too? So I don't know if we've been a little too hard on him for reverting back to his old self. And Athrun's a person too. Even if he knows the circumstances of Cagalli's engagement, and of her love for him, it has to hurt that she chose Yuna over him. Make him feel that in some way, he isn't good enough for her. Regardless, I'd still like to make Athrun's character progression more clear. Now that we've seen him lash out at Kira and Cagalli, I'd like to see some proof that he still cares. I know he was almost crying when he broke up with her, but I need more.

Thoughts on the Scantilly-clad Cagalli
The breakup and politics have left her exposed. She's gotten burned by the politics, no doubt. And no one been giving her the support she needs to sort Orb's problems out. Not Kira, not Athrun no one has actually helped in both ways: giving her emotional support and helping her get the job done. And so, I'm putting my hopes in Kisaka. No one can do this on their own. Every step of the way in Seed, even Lacus had the Clyne faction. And about the breakup, when Athrun left Orb he gave her the ring, which has the implicit understanding that he'll be back for her. But when she asked him when he would come back, he didn't answer. And we've been hearing that the only reason that Cagalli falls into the see is because Athrun fought with Kira over giving Shinn a beating for going nuts. Knowing someone who was supposed to love you sided against you like that is going to sting.
